CKTG 2026 Day 4: Vietnam and China's No. 1 Seeds Eliminated, Brazil's Historic Win
History was made on Day 4 of the Swiss Stage at the League of Legends World Championship 2026 (CKTG 2026)—but it was a bitter history for the teams that were the No. 1 seeds from their regions. Vietnam's TSW (LCP) and China's AL (LPL) both exited the tournament without registering a single win. The day witnessed both the tournament's first eliminations and its first qualifications. However, contrary to superficial reports, China's performance has not completely collapsed, as three LPL teams—TES, IG, and BLG—are still in the knockout race with a 2-1 record. Brazil's LØS defeated TSW 2-0 to register their first Swiss-stage win of the year, while North America's TL showed AL the exit door with a 2-0 victory.
The day began with TSW (Vietnam) facing LØS (Brazil). TSW, the No. 1 seed from the LCP (League of Legends Championship Pacific), looked strong in the lane phase and built an early lead, but their weakness in map control and objective fights was exposed. In Game 2, LØS repeatedly isolated and killed Pun and Hizto, building a lead of over 5,000 gold. In a decisive moment, a Vi and Miss Fortune ultimate combo killed Duduhh's Ashe, halting TSW's comeback. LØS won the third Elemental Dragon fight and closed out the game with the Baron buff. With TSW's loss, the LCP's No. 1 seed finished at 15th-16th place with a 0-3 record. This is a major blow for the LCP, although CTBC Flying Oyster from the same region is still alive with a 1-2 score.
On the other hand, AL (LPL's No. 1 seed) had already faced a difficult path. A BO1 loss to Karmine Corp on Day 1, followed by a BO1 loss to Top Esports on Day 2, and now a 0-2 loss to TL in a BO3 on Day 4. AL's story was not just one bad day, but a combination of three different types of failures. In Game 1 against TL, AL was behind by 14,000 gold, a rare and shocking figure in professional play. In Game 2, AL attempted a comeback and fought hard for 45 minutes, but TL secured the Fire Dragon Soul in the decisive dragon fight. TL's jungler Josedeodo (Lee Sin/Camille) performed effectively, while ADC Yeon delivered an excellent fight to close out the series. With AL's loss, the LPL's No. 1 seed's journey ended, but the league's other three teams remain in strong positions.
The biggest story of the day is that the Swiss format plays the first two rounds as BO1, which increases the likelihood of upsets. A major reason for AL's loss was that they suffered BO1 defeats in the first two rounds, putting them at 0-2 and creating immense pressure to win out. If the tournament had been BO3 from the start, AL might have had a better chance of recovery. This is an example of format-driven volatility, not regional decline. The three LPL teams are at 2-1, demonstrating the league's depth remains intact. The LCK is in the strongest position, with Gen.G and Dplus KIA both qualifying for the knockout stage at 3-0, and T1 at 2-1. The arithmetic of the Swiss standings is also interesting: after Round 3, there were 2 teams at 3-0, 6 at 2-1, 6 at 1-2, and 2 at 0-3, totaling 16 teams. This shows how balanced the format is, but the early BO1s provide more room for upsets. Additionally, LØS had a tough draw, facing teams like T1 and G2 in the first two rounds. This indicates that their 0-2 record was not just about performance but also the difficulty of the draw. For the LCK, Gen.G and Dplus KIA's 3-0 qualification means they will have a few extra days of preparation before the knockout stage, which is a significant advantage.
For Brazil, the day was historic as LØS secured their first Swiss stage win. However, it is just one win, and viewing it as a regional breakthrough would be premature. LØS's next match is a life-or-death BO3 against TL, which will determine whether Brazil's story continues or ends. For Vietnam, it was a disappointing day as their only representative, TSW, was eliminated, potentially reducing Vietnamese audience interest in the tournament. Conversely, for Chinese fans, the relief is that three LPL teams are still in the race, and if they perform well in Round 4, AL's loss will quickly be forgotten.
Speaking of player performances, TSW's Pun and Hizto were constantly targeted, reflecting a team-level vision failure rather than individual mistakes. When two different players are repeatedly caught in the same game, it means the team's vision setup and map control are weak. LØS's Duduhh getting caught in a hard-engage combo exposes his positional vulnerability, and opposing teams may exploit this in upcoming matches. TL's Josedeodo and Yeon played crucial roles in their team's victory. Josedeodo's experience and Yeon's fighting ability proved beneficial for TL. For AL, this loss indicates that the team has talent but lacked preparation and draft execution. The Game 2 comeback proved the roster has potential, but the lack of series-level consistency was evident. Questions will be raised about the coaching staff's role, as the 14,000 gold deficit in Game 1 was not just player error but a failure of draft and strategy.
Overall, Day 4 of CKTG 2026 brought a unique twist, with both No. 1 seeds eliminated, but this does not mean their regions have completely collapsed. The LPL is still strong with three teams, and one LCP team remains alive. The real lesson is that in the Swiss format, early BO1s and the randomness of the draw can pose a threat to high seeds. The performances of the three LPL teams in Round 4 and the TL vs. LØS matchup will determine the direction of this story. For now, it is clear that in esports, seeding prestige cannot outweigh on-field performance.
